Summary TiendaTek is a simple and intuitive accounting and inventory management application that allows a shopkeeper to use a smartphone/tablet with a bar-code reader as a point-of-sale device (total hardware cost ∼$400). The data gathered is uploaded to Frogtek servers for backup, analysis, and sale to third parties. The shopkeeper receives education and recommendations to fully benefit from the newfound information. And TiendaTek integrates with mobile payments platforms that let shopkeepers increase revenues by selling mobile minutes and other digital services. In sum, TiendaTek is a disruptive product that connects the shopkeepers to their funders and suppliers while allowing the former to improve their businesses.
